Last night, as I shared vision for the upcoming Easter weekend, I paused–taking mental notes of the scene unfolding around me. There, among the whiteboard, the music playing softly in the background, and my team taking in my words, it hit me. Specifics paint vision.
The more you detail your plans, the more feasible/doable it becomes to others. As leaders we cast vision to achieve two initial goals:
- GET PEOPLE TO WEIGH-IN
- GET PEOPLE TO BUY IN
People weigh-in before they buy-in. It’s important to remember clarity lowers anxiety. The clearer picture you paint through vision and steps- the more doable the plan becomes. Others’ uncertainty will be lowered and their faith and confidence will rise. Uncertainty in people means lack of clarity of either vision or your strategy.
